THE COMPANY
Procell Biologics was established in 2021 with the intent to be a hub for the development and manufacture of biologic products for the domestic and international markets. Our biosimilars address metabolic disorders, inflammatory diseases, and various types of cancer. We also have built capabilities for both biosimilar and biotherapeutic research. We envisage extending our services to CDMO activities by end-2024.
At our state-of-the-art, 11,000 sft R&D facility at MN Park, Genome Valley, Hyderabad, we develop and deliver processes for microbial and mammalian products from vial to drug products including analytical method development, verification and validation. We adhere to quality documentation to meet the latest regulatory requirements.
Our expertise lies in developing and producing biopharma products that are built on platform-based technologies and processes. This enables us to not only keep the cost affordable without compromising quality but also match the quick turnaround time.

Akkina Srinivas Chowdary, an MBA, is the Director of Venkateshwara Minerals since 2006. He has successfully led the company’s growth and expansion into new areas – evolving from mining, logistics and financial investments into futuristic, new age businesses like biologics. Procell Biologics leverages his vision and expertise to tap into new markets and revenue streams. Passionate about sports and grooming talent, he has helped provide sports facilities and serves as the President of the Football Association in his district.

A Masters in Biotechnology from Madras University, India, Satish has 20+ years of experience in the development of recombinant therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies in microbial, yeast and mammalian cell culture and application and business development of cell culture media and single use technologies. He has a deep understanding and experience in the product life cycle of biosimilar molecules, and has successfully led specific phases of biosimilar product development, some of which are in the market, and some others in advanced stages of regulatory approvals.
Prior to Procell Biologics, he worked in leading biopharma companies such as Wockhardt Research Center, Reliance Life Sciences, Enzene Biosciences, Shasun and GE Healthcare.
Satish has worked extensively in process development, scale-up and technology transfer of therapeutic proteins in E. coli and CHO cell line at shake flask level, Batch and Fed-batch processes for optimizing growth and expression of therapeutic proteins at 5,10,20,50.200.1000 and 2000 litre fermenter scales.
On the management side, he is responsible for all aspects of site organization and to ensure that processes are aligned for optimal performance, achieving operational excellence and global Lean objectives. He also oversees the implementation of all functional excellence standards, policies and practices, and supports in the areas of budgeting and achievement of productivity targets.

A Masters in Biotechnology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India, Mahesh Kumar has 21+ years of experience in downstream purification, assay development at R&D stage for recombinant therapeutic proteins and new chemical entities. He has also worked extensively in Quality control with a focus on environmental monitoring of production areas and QC release of water, raw and packing materials, and in-process sampling during biotherapeutics manufacturing.
Possessing a deep understanding of the product development life cycle of biosimilar molecules, he has successfully handled the movement of products from Preclinical to Phase I, right up to regulatory approvals. One of the products he handled was granted marketing authorization in 2014, by WHO, India.
Prior to Procell Biologics, he has worked in leading biopharma companies such as M.J. Biopharm (P) Ltd., Piramal Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd., Wockhardt Research Centre, and Shanta Biotechnics Pvt. Ltd. He has worked extensively in the Purification department at Shanta Biotech & Wockhardt Research Centre and has established a successful process for biotherapeutics at R&D scale. He has developed assays for screening of antidiabetic molecules for drug discovery lab. He is experienced in developing bioassays for antidiabetic molecules at Piramal Life Sciences.
In the Quality control department at M. J. BioPharm, he was responsible for cell bank maintenance and characterisation, method development, method validations, lot release, stability studies, impurity clearance, cleaning validations, process validation and product characterisation studies of therapeutic proteins of E. coli. products.
Some of his quality contributions led to the filing of Insulin Human for US-IND, WHO and EU approvals. He is experienced in Regulatory Audits for QC department for WHO, EU, MHRA, SAHPRA, Customer audits and Due diligence.

Maheshchandra has 18+ years of experience in the Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory and Quality Control (QC) activities of recombinant therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies, enzymes and viral vaccines. Prior to Procell, he worked in leading biopharma and vaccine companies such as Shantha Biotech, Wockhardt Biotech, Dr.Reddy’s Biologics, Indian Immunologicals Limited, and Lazuline Biotech.
Mahesh has worked extensively in developing quality systems at product development, preclinical and clinical stages for biosimilar products. He has established the quality systems for vendor management, quality management, process validation, method validation, equipment qualification and product distribution as per the regulatory requirements.
Mahesh has handled regulatory audits such as WHO, ANVISA, Russia, PICS member countries and USFDA consultant audit. Mahesh has completed his Masters in Microbiology from Bangalore University, India.

Venkat comes with over 23 years of Process Development experience in Recombinant Protein and Recombinant Vaccine production. He has significant experience in leading process development and scaleup of recombinant protein expression in E. coli and Yeast. He brings to the table remarkable expertise in process development, demonstration of biosimilars at manufacturing scale, coordinating with scaleup team for successful technology transfer from R&D scale to manufacturing scale (2KL and 15KL) for material generation for clinical trials in the cGMP environment.
He has years of experience in driving the product lifecycle of biosimilar molecules, and has successfully led process development and technology transfer, proven to be robust and commercially viable. He was a crucial member of the team that successfully developed Streptokinase and enabled tech transfer to the manufacturing team during his stint at Shantha Biotech, and Insulin analogues in Wockhardt Research Centre.
Venkat has a Post-graduate degreein Microbiology from SRTM University, India.

Dr. Ranadheer has 20+ years of experience in the academic and industrial sides of the life sciences industry. His experience includes recombinant therapeutic proteins expression in E.coli, Yeast and Mammalian systems.
During his stint at Shantha Biotechnics, he performed E.coli & Yeast clone development for recombinant therapeutic proteins expression. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Illinois (UIC) at Chicago, studying cell signaling pathways in cancers. He also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at ICRISAT, where he worked on the elucidation of mechanism behind CMS in pigeon pea that was filed for US patent, and on CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing projects in plant systems. He successfully led the Molecular biology team where RT-PCR based method verifications/validations were performed as per ISO (IEC) 17025 guidelines.
Dr. Ranadheer earned his doctorate from the Dept. of Genetics, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
